Master of Education

Program Introduction

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) program offered by HDI CAMPUS is designed to provide you with updated advanced knowledge and skills in various areas of education. Comprising 60 credits, this program covers a broad and essential range of subjects tailored for education professionals.

Entry Requirements

  1. Possession of a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree, including at least 110 hours of teacher training. *
  2. A bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, along with a postgraduate diploma in education.
  3. Additionally:
    • Applicants with a B.Ed. degree but without teacher training will be required to undertake teacher training concurrently during the first three months of the program. This training must be completed within the first six months.

National and International RecognitionThis internationally recognized postgraduate degree, aligned with UNESCO’s ISCED Level 07-II qualification, is awarded by the University of Acayucan, Mexico, as recommended by the Sri Lankan University Grants Commission. The program aims to enhance your knowledge, professional capabilities, and local and international recognition as a practitioner in the field of education.

Program Upgradation

The program can be upgraded to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education. This request must be made between the 6th and 8th month of the program. Eligibility for upgradation is based on the volume and quality of work completed by the student, as well as the weight of the independent research dissertation. Final approval by the university and additional student fees will apply.

Program Delivery

All lectures will be conducted online on weekends. The program comprises ten modules and requires the completion of an independent research dissertation or project of 30,000 words. Students are encouraged to publish research papers, with necessary support provided by the university. Publication of the research paper is mandatory for those upgrading to a Ph.D.

Course Fee Structure

  1. Registration Steps
  • Step 1: Register your details through the “Register” link at the top right corner of the website: hdicampus.edu.lk.
  • Step 2: Pay the processing fee of LKR 10,000/- to the university account and send the receipt via WhatsApp to 0711557878. Online payment options are also available.
  • Step 3: Pay the university registration fee of LKR 22,030/- by January.
  • Step 4: Course fees can be paid in 12 equal monthly installments of LKR 18,600/-. Students paying in 1 or 3 installments will receive a 10% discount. Payments commence in February.
  • Total course fee: LKR 223,200/-
  • Including registration and additional fees: LKR 255,230/-

Fees for Program Upgradation

  • Program duration will be extended by six months.
  • Upgradation fee: LKR 31,400/-, payable in six equal installments of LKR 5,235/- alongside the monthly course fee, totaling LKR 23,835/- per month.
  • University student fee: LKR 128,580/-, payable in six equal installments of LKR 21,430/- during months 13-18.

The M.Ed. program is divided into 10 subjects, each comprising 4 modules.

Syllabus:

  1. Psychology of Learning

Explores cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of learning. Includes modern insights from neuroscience and the psychology of motivation.

  1. Philosophical, Sociological, and Ethical Foundations of Education

Covers philosophical theories, societal influences, and ethical considerations in education. Discusses global perspectives on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

  1. Research Methods and Data Analysis in Education

Focuses on qualitative and quantitative research techniques. Includes using data analytics and technology for educational research.

  1. Educational Leadership and Management

Addresses strategic planning, organizational leadership, and policy development. Incorporates discussions on leading change in schools and higher education.

  1. Assessment, Evaluation, and Feedback in Education

Emphasizes advanced techniques for assessing and evaluating learning outcomes. Covers formative and summative assessments and using data for improvement.

  1. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Inclusive Education

Combines SEL strategies with inclusive practices for diverse classrooms. Focuses on emotional intelligence, empathy, and teaching students with varied needs.

  1. Educational Technology and Innovation

Explores integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI, VR, and AR) into teaching. Includes instructional design for online and blended learning environments.

  1. Curriculum Development and Sustainability Education

Focuses on creating innovative curricula for 21st-century skills. Incorporates Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and global citizenship.

  1. Global and Comparative Education

Analyzes education systems worldwide, including policies, challenges, and reforms. Discusses globalization’s impact on education.

  1. Research Dissertation

Students undertake an independent research project to address a real-world issue in education. Emphasizes applying theoretical knowledge and research skills.
